The East Bay Coalition and Roger Williams University present a “Cultivating Cannabis Awareness – An Educational Symposium.This conference will educate participants on the dangers and effects of cannabis use among young adults, while creating a community of care to better address this growing issue. The conference will also provide an opportunity to build partnerships with other university and community members.

ABOUT:

2025 Statewide Community Overdose Engagement (CODE) Summit In efforts to bring together community members and leaders to address Rhode Island’s overdose crisis, Governor Dan McKee’s Overdose Task Force invites you to participate in the 2025 Statewide Community Overdose Engagement (CODE) Summit on February 12, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island. The goals of the 2025 CODE Summit are to: Learn and interact with fellow Rhode Islanders who are invested in ending the overdose crisis; Share local resources for overdose prevention, harm reduction/rescue, treatment, and recovery; and Engage municipalities in the development and planning of localized overdose response plans. Registration information and an agenda will be available in January 2025. Please note that the 2025 CODE Summit will occur in place of the February 2025 Overdose Task Force meeting.

RICARES is hosting launching Statewide Recovery Advocacy Meetings to provide a forum for recovery community members to discuss important issues. We will offer:

  • Training and support for providing testimony on recovery-related matters at the State Legislature and other venues
  • Resources for state and national advocacy
  • Opportunities to meet with elected officials and stakeholders

Olmstead Community Listening Session Applications

Rhode Island is developing an Olmstead Plan to ensure that there are supports in place for individuals with disabilities to live, work and receive services in the least restrictive setting permitted by their disabilities and based on their choice. The Rhode Island (RI) Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) and its Olmstead planning partner, JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), are recruiting up to 15 community partners to plan and host an accessible community listening session during the period December 2, 2024, through January 10, 2025. Selected partners will be compensated $10,000 for their time, to cover costs for the successful completion of a listening session and to assist with data collection. Program: 7 Steps to Staying Out of Prison

ABOUT:

Change is critical to eliminating recidivism.

How will you succeed in life after prison?

This course meets weekly for 10-15 weeks to discuss the book –
Never Going Back: 7 Steps to Staying Out of Prison by Hassan A. Latif.

Participants will receive a free copy of the book and participate in group
discussions about assessing thoughts, controlling feelings, and ultimately
changing their behavior to ensure long-term permanent change.
