ABOUT:

Please Join us for an in-person/virtual panel discussion featuring two special harm reduction organizations: Since 2016, Kosmicare provides drug checking services, counseling, and other supports to people who use drugs in Portugal by appointment, as a drop-in, via mobile van services, and at overdose prevention sites. Project Weber/RENEW empowers people who engage in drug use and/or sex work to make healthier and safer choices in their own lives. They will be opening the first legally-sanctioned overdose prevention center in Rhode Island. Other speakers will include Dr. Traci Green from the COBRE and Dr. Brandon de Pozzo from Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. This panel will be moderated by Jackie White Hughto from Brown University School of Public Health.

Olmstead Community Listening Session Applications

Rhode Island is developing an Olmstead Plan to ensure that there are supports in place for individuals with disabilities to live, work and receive services in the least restrictive setting permitted by their disabilities and based on their choice. The Rhode Island (RI) Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) and its Olmstead planning partner, JSI Research and Training Institute, Inc. (JSI), are recruiting up to 15 community partners to plan and host an accessible community listening session during the period December 2, 2024, through January 10, 2025. Selected partners will be compensated $10,000 for their time, to cover costs for the successful completion of a listening session and to assist with data collection. RI Cares Recovery Advocacy Group

ABOUT:

Open to anyone in the recovery community – whom we define as people in recovery from substance use disorders, their loved ones, and allies, the Recovery Advocacy Group will meet monthly to engage in meaningful dialogue about how to ensure that RI is Recovery Ready – in our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. An early goal will be to prepare for the 2025 Recovery Day at the State Capitol which is tentatively scheduled for February.


Program: 7 Steps to Staying Out of Prison

ABOUT:

Change is critical to eliminating recidivism.

How will you succeed in life after prison?

This course meets weekly for 10-15 weeks to discuss the book –
Never Going Back: 7 Steps to Staying Out of Prison by Hassan A. Latif.

Participants will receive a free copy of the book and participate in group
discussions about assessing thoughts, controlling feelings, and ultimately
changing their behavior to ensure long-term permanent change.

The Community Health Network’s “Own Your Health’s Chronic Pain Self-Management Program” is a free, six-week program that teaches individuals new skills and techniques on how to better manage pain. Be more physically active
